Mosquito sample sites test positive for West Nile Virus

Wednesday, August 2 2017 2:47 PM

Tarrant County Public Health notified the City of Colleyville on Wednesday, Aug. 2, of positive test results for West Nile Virus. The samples that tested positive were taken from the vicinity of the 5200 block of Bransford Road and the 3200 block of Scarborough Lane.

City staff will treat the test sites with larvacide and will continue treatment and testing. Residents within a quarter-mile area of the sample area are notified via CodeRED. Fogging is not required because this is the first positive at both of these locations.

The City encourages the community to follow mosquito control and safety practices such as draining standing water around the home, using insect repellent containing DEET, and dressing in long sleeves and pants outdoors. The City of Colleyville follows an Integrated Mosquito Management Plan that outlines the City’s responses to positive tests.
