Mosquito sample site tests positive for West Nile Virus

Monday, August 28 2017 11:00 AM

Tarrant County Public Health notified the City of Colleyville on Aug. 9 of a positive test result for West Nile Virus in one of the City’s mosquito traps. The positive sample was taken near the 1600 block of Hall-Johnson Road.

Crews will treat the site with larvacide and will continue treatment and testing. This is the first positive at this location this year.
Residents within a quarter-mile of the positive sites are notified via CodeRed.

The City encourages the community to follow mosquito control and safety practices such as draining standing water around the home, using insect repellent containing DEET, and dressing in long sleeves and pants outdoors.

The City of Colleyville follows an Integrated Mosquito Management Plan that outlines the City’s responses to positive tests.
