Thursday, August 31 2017 8:48 AM

Two Colleyville firefighters are headed to South Texas as part of a DFW fire strike team requested by the State of Texas.

The State requested a fire strike team to respond to South Texas on Aug. 30. The strike team includes the North East Fire Department Association, which Colleyville serves, along with the fire departments of Fort Worth, Arlington, Grand Prairie, Garland, Irving, and Burleson.

The Colleyville Fire Department has deployed two firefighters as part of this strike team. Captain Cushing and Firefighter Franco have been assigned to a Hurst firetruck with two Hurst firefighters. The strike team features 12 fire engines, two aerials, four chief officers, one fuel truck, one attack truck, one heavy rescue, and one brush truck.

The team departed North Texas Wednesday night and has been assigned to Beaumont/Port Arthur to relieve the fire crews stationed there. After serving in several South Texas communities the Colleyville/Hurst engine left to come home Tuesday, Sept. 12, the morning.
