Mosquito sample site tests positive for West Nile Virus

Wednesday, July 5 2017 12:41 PM

Tarrant County notified the City of Colleyville on Wednesday, July 5, of a positive test result for West Nile Virus in a submitted mosquito sample from the week of June 26. The sample was taken near the 200 block of McDonwell School Road.

Following the City’s Mosquito Management Plan, staff will treat the test site with larvacide and continue treatment and testing. Residents within a quarter-mile area of the sample area are notified by CodeRED.

The City encourages the community to follow mosquito control and safety practices such as draining standing water around the home, using insect repellent containing DEET, and dressing in long sleeves and pants outdoors.

The City of Colleyville follows an Integrated Mosquito Management Plan that outlines the City’s responses to positive tests. Click here to learn more about the plan.
