 At the May 12, 2026 City Council meeting, an ordinance was approved allowing golf cart operation in Colleyville with certain restrictions.

DRIVERS:                                                                                                      

  • Must have a license & insurance                                                        

OPERATING & SAFETY REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Must obey all state and local traffic and parking laws
  • Operation restricted to daylight hours
  • Certain safety equipment required (ex. side mirrors, blinkers,                                                          brake lights)
  • License plate required
  • Passengers must all be seated with a seatbelt; no pets in driver’s lap 

WHERE PERMITTED:

  • Only on Local Streets, as defined in the City's Master Thoroughfare Plan (shown in black            on the map)
  • Crossing of non Local Streets is allowed at intersections
  • Crossing of non Local Streets with more than one lane in each direction is allowed only at intersections with a traffic signal or 4-way stop sign
  • May not be operated on sidewalks or trails

Violations of the ordinance are subject to penalty up to $500 for each offense, in addition to any penalties for violation of other applicable State law.
