The Office of the City Secretary is responsible for conducting the General Election to elect officers of the City. The General Election is held on the first Saturday in May of each year as prescribed by the Election Code of the State of Texas and the City Charter. The Office of the City Secretary coordinates with Tarrant County elections for local, state, and federal elections.

2026 General Election
The City of Colleyville will hold a General Election on Saturday, May 2, 2026, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. to elect Councilmembers to Places 3 and 4 on the City Council.
The candidate filing period will begin Wednesday, January 14, 2026, 9 a.m. and the deadline to file for a place on the ballot is Friday, February 13, 2026, 5:00 p.m.

Important Dates

- February 13, 2026 - Last Day to File for Place on the Ballot
- April 2, 2026 - Last Day to Register to Vote for this Election

The following forms with noted deadlines are filed with the City Secretary, 100 Main Street, 3rd Floor, Colleyville, 76034; 817.503.1130.
Application - The loyalty oath is included on this form and must be notarized.
- January 14, 2026 - first day to apply for a place on the May 2, 2026, Election ballot.
- February 13, 2026 - last day to apply for a place on the May 2, 2026 Election ballot. The application must be filed with the City Secretary's Office before 5:00 p.m.
- Please note the application has a section for your email address. Your email is optional, but remember candidate applications are publicly available and will be uploaded to the City’s website.
- Request for Confidentiality for Candidates under Texas Government Code—Pursuant to Section 552.1175 of the Texas Government Code, an elected public officer may request information (home address, home telephone number, emergency contact, date of birth, social security number, and family members restricted from public access).
City of Colleyville Ordinance O-16-2002 – City Financial Disclosure and Business Conflict of Interest Form
Appointment of Campaign Treasurer (Form CTA) and the Instruction Guide. The CTA Form is to be filed with the City Secretary’s Office. Please note that under Texas Law, you must designate a Campaign Treasurer before any funds can be expended or campaign contributions accepted (this includes your filing fee). You may name yourself as Treasurer.
- The back of the form offers a modified reporting option. Candidates who do not intend to accept more than $1,110 ($1,140, effective Jan 1, 2026) in political contributions or expend more than $1,110 ($1,140, effective Jan 1, 2026) in political expenditures (excluding filing fees) may elect to report under the modified reporting schedule.
- Candidates reporting under the modified schedule are not required to file pre-election reports (due 30 days and eight days before an election) or runoff reports.
- The selection of modified reporting still requires you to file semiannual reports (July 15 and January 15). If you select modified reporting, you must file a Candidate/Officeholder Campaign Finance Report – Designation of Final Report to be relieved of reporting obligations after the election.
Amendment: Appointment of Campaign Treasurer by Candidate (Form ACTA) and the Instruction Guide. Use this form to change information previously reported on Form CTA and to renew your choice to report under the modified schedule.
Code of Fair Campaign Practices and Chapter 258, Election Code, Fair Campaign Practices Act from the Texas Ethics Commission. Your subscription to this Code is voluntary. If you elect to subscribe to the Code form, it should be filed with the City Secretary’s Office. Please note that a candidate who has filed a copy of this form may indicate such on political advertising in a form determined by the Ethics Commission.

Candidate/Officeholder Campaign Finance Report-Form C/OH and the Instruction Guide. This report shall be filed in the City Secretary’s office on the dates specified on the list of important dates. The instruction guide explains how to complete the campaign finance report and the deadlines for filing pre-election reports. - A candidate may file a modified reporting statement declaration if he/she does not plan to expend or receive more than $1,110.00 ($1,140, effective Jan 1, 2026). This form is page two of a candidate's campaign treasurer appointment. The declaration shall be filed before the election no later than the 30th day. A candidate filing the declaration is not required to file pre-election reports unless the candidate exceeds $1,110.00 ($1,140, effective Jan 1, 2026).
Correction/Amendment Affidavit for Candidate/Officeholder-Form COR-C/OH. This form shall be completed when a candidate submits a corrected candidate/officeholder campaign finance report. (See instructions on the back of the form.)

2027
Saturday, May 1, 2027, to elect Councilmembers to Places 5 and 6 to the City Council.
2028
Saturday, May 6, 2028, to elect a Mayor, and Councilmembers to Places 1 and 2, to the City Council.
2029
Saturday, May 5, 2029, to elect a Councilmembers to Places 4 and 4, to the City Council.
Are you registered to vote, have you moved within Tarrant County?
You must be registered to vote in the city in which you currently reside and you must be registered 30 days prior to any election in which you wish to vote. To verify your voting status, visit Tarrant County Elections' Voter Lookup.
If you moved from one place to another in the same county and wish to vote, you must change your address or notify the Tarrant County Elections Administrator. Change of address options are listed below:
- Correct your current voter registration certificate on the back and return it to Tarrant County Elections, 2700 Premier Street, Ft. Worth, TX 76111
- Fill out a new voter registration application form and check the “change” box
- When you apply for or change your Texas driver’s license, change your voter information at the same time
You can change your information online at the Secretary of State’s Voter Registration Name / Address Change website
The changes you make will be forwarded to the county voter registrar for processing. You will be mailed a new certificate with your new address and be able to vote in your new precinct 30 days after you submitted your change. If you miss the 30-day deadline to change information on your voter registration certificate, you may vote in your former precinct as long as you still reside in the political subdivision conducting the election.
Ballot by Mail
Tarrant County registered voters are eligible to request and receive a ballot by mail if any of the following conditions prevents them from voting in-person during the early voting period or on election day:
- Expected absence from the County during both the early voting period and on election day. (The ballot must be mailed to an address outside the County.)
- Disability
- 65 years of age or older
- Confinement in jail and not finally convicted of a felony
- Expected to give birth within three weeks before or after Election Day
