Colleyville Library to Undergo Renovations This Year
The Library Spacial Reconfiguration Project was presented to Council on July 17
Visitors to the Colleyville Library might notice some changes in the upcoming months. Beginning in August, the Library will undergo an exciting transformation. The Library’s current set-up of bookshelves, technology, and furniture will be reconfigured to provide more responsive customer service, adapt to rapidly changing technology, and create a more attractive library environment for all visitors to the facility. In addition to these changes, the Library will also receive new, updated furniture.
Construction is scheduled to begin in August. New furniture will be installed in October, with the project scheduled to be complete in early November. The Library will remain open to the public throughout the duration of the reconfiguration project.
Patrons will notice changes throughout the building. The first floor will be arranged so popular collections are highlighted near the entry. Existing seating will be replaced with comfortable furniture that can be rearranged as needed. The children’s area on the second floor will transform into a space with a focus on flexibility. New flooring will be installed that is kid-friendly and durable. A toddler zone with games and interactive elements will be created as well as a zone for older kids with a focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM).
This reconfiguration project stems from recommendations made in the Library’s Long Range Plan that provides vision and direction for Colleyville Library through 2021. By reconfiguring the library space, staff will be able to accomplish many of the goals laid out in the plan.
