Glaser Foundation makes Summer Reading possible

Post Date:05/30/2018 4:25 PM

As the Colleyville Library’s Summer Reading Program, “Stomp, Chomp, READ!” is set to begin with a kick-off party on Friday, June 1, the City of Colleyville would like to thank those that made it possible.

For 15 years the Robert J. & Helen H. Glaser Family Foundation has donated a $10,000 grant annually to the Colleyville Public Library Foundation to support the Library’s summer reading programs.

“Our great summer reading program is attended by so many and we are so fortunate the Glaser Foundation has given us the funds since for 15 years,” Pat Jones, Colleyville Public Library Foundation President said. “You’ve touched so many lives and we really appreciate it.”

Each summer, the Library allows the whole family to participate in a program that rewards reading. In addition to the program, the Library hosts several educational entertainers throughout the summer. These efforts would not be possible at the current level provided without the gifts from the Glaser Family Foundation.

The foundation also provided a $5,000 grant for the purchase of children’s books for the Library’s Opening Day Collection in 2003.

“Without it we would not have the programs that we’ve had throughout the years,” Library Director Mary Rodne said. “In 14 years we’ve had 17,514 adult, children and teens participate in summer reading and with the funding the Library has hosted 1,418 programs with 107,176 attendees.”
