On October 1, 2012, the cities of Colleyville and Keller merged their respective court operations into a single municipal court, the first of its kind in Texas. While a single court will now serve both cities, there will be no sacrifice in service and we will continue to serve the needs of both the Keller and Colleyville communities.
The Texas Legislature paved the way for the court consolidation with the passage in 2011 of House Bill 984 (HB984). The bill allows cities with a contiguous border, or those within a half-mile of each other, to conduct court in one of the cities. Until HB 984, state law required cities to conduct municipal court within their own borders.

PleasIn the American justice system, all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty. On a plea of not guilty, a formal trial will be held. As in all criminal trials, the state is required to prove guilt "beyond a reasonable doubt" of the offense charged in the complaint before you can be found guilty by a judge or jury. You have the right to request either a trial before the judge or by a jury of your peers. Your decision concerning which plea to enter is very important and should be carefully considered. If you plead guilty or nolo contendere in open court, you should be prepared to pay the fine and court costs. |
DismissalsIn some circumstances, charges may be dismissed without a charge or dismissed with a feel. It is the responsibility of the defendant to provide the necessary documentation to the court in a timely manner for dismissal to be considered. |

Metroport Teen CourtThe cities of Keller, Southlake, Colleyville and Grapevine have joined together to form the Metroport Teen Court. This is a voluntary program that allows juvenile Class C misdemeanor offenders to pay off their citations through community service and involvement in the judicial process. These cases are presented by volunteer Teen Court attorneys to a jury of the defendant's peers comprised of volunteers from local secondary schools and returning teens who were previously defendants. |
