The Engineering Division also houses the GIS division. GIS stands for Geographic Information Systems. It combines location information, such as where a manhole is located, with tabular data such as type and size of a manhole.  GIS also provides analysis, maps, web mapping, and GPS services to all divisions.

GIS is used in emergency planning for the Fire Department and crime analysis for the Police Department, as well as many other applications. GIS can also be accessed online.
