EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

It is the policy of the city of Colleyville not to discriminate against any person in recruitment, examination, appointment, training, promotion, discipline, or any other aspect of personnel administration because of race, color, national origin, marital status, age, gender, veteran status, disability status, religious opinions or affilications, or any other characteristics protected by law.

EMPLOYMENT AT WILL

Employees who do not have a written, individual employment contract, signed by the city manager and the affected employee, for a specific, fixed term of employment, are employed at will.  This means that no individual supervisor has the authority to create an employment contract with an employee for any specified length of time.  Either the employee or the city may terminate the employment relationship at any time, for any reason, without notice or cause.

It is the policy of the city of Colleyville to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act as amended and to ensure that no person is discriminated against based on their disability. The city offers equal employment opportunity to qualified individuals and strictly prohibits the discrimination against qualified individuals on the basis of disability.  The city shall provide reasonable accommodations to applicants and employees who are otherwise qualified to perform the essential job duties when doing so does not create an undue hardship for the city.

IMMIGRATION LAW COMPLIANCE      

The city of Colleyville is committed to employing only United States citizens and aliens who are authorized to work in the United States and who comply with the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.  Within three days of beginning employment, each new employee must properly complete, sign, and date the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Form I-9 and provide the appropriate documentation.

VIOLENCE IN THE WORKPLACE POLICY

The ity of Colleyville is committed to preventing workplace violence and to maintaining a safe work environment for all employees.  The city of Colleyville has “zero tolerance” for violence in the workplace and will not tolerate violence, intimidation, or threats of violence against employees, customers, contractors, volunteers, vendors, or the general public - no exceptions. 

DRUG FREE WORK ENVIRONMENT

The city of Colleyville recognizes the health and safety risks of drug and alcohol abuse and the adverse affects it has on job performance.  It is the policy of the city to maintain a safe and drug-free work environment for all of its employees.  The city will not hire any applicant for employment found to be engaging in the use or consumption of drugs or abuse of alcohol, unless such drug is prescribed for the user by a licensed physician, and then only if such drug is being used/consumed for the purpose intended.
 
The city requires a post-offer candidate to submit to a drug test as a condition of employment.  Any candidate who refuses to submit to a drug and/or alcohol test will be removed from consideration of employment with the city of Colleyville.
