That’s the slogan for the Colleyville Public Library’s safari-themed summer reading program. Through August, the library will be filled with family activities, special events, performers, animal shows, and expanded programming. The program culminates with a Summer Reading Grand Finale on Aug. 7. During the summer program, children, teens, and adults will be eligible to earn prizes by tracking their reading. Audio books and being read a book also qualify. Reading must be tracked on library reading logs, which can be submitted for prizes. Every eight books or five reading hours qualifies for the grand prize drawing at the Grand Finale. Each week the Safari begins with Preschool Story Time on Mondays at 2:00 p.m. If it’s Tuesday, it must be Activity Day, varying from interactive play to themed events. Wednesdays are reserved for another round of Preschool Story Time and the Chess Club. Visiting performers, puppeteers, magicians and live animals are on the marquee for Thursday, as is Tots and Tales Story Time. Fridays feature Bounce Time and Movie Day. All participants must register for the library’s Summer Safari program—summer reading, story times, and Chess Club. Registration must be done in person and a valid library card is required. Other activities, including weekly activities and special events, do not require registration or a card. The Summer Safari Grand Finale is slated Thursday, Aug. 7, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Games, prizes, activities, face painting, crafts, special guests, and a few surprises are planned. The event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact the library at 817.503.1150. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() PSSSSST! This is where they keep the prizes! |
