Colleyville’s Old Tyme Bar-B-Q Cook-Off, benefiting Special Olympics, is scheduled Friday and Saturday, June 6 and 7, at The Village at Colleyville. The cook-off is a nationally sanctioned, judged event and is the second largest barbecue cook-off in Texas.
Friday evening’s events kick off at 6:00 p.m. with a free fish fry (until the fish is gone). Other activities for the evening include: children’s activities, carnival fare, and open-mike karaoke.
On Saturday, the serious business of Texas barbecue gets underway. Gates open to the public at 11:00 a.m. While the cookers get down to serious cooking, the public can do some serious eating with heaping plates of Texas Q for $5; $6 for a barbecue plate and a beverage.
The popular pie contest, sponsored by the Colleyville Woman's Club, lets everyone get into the spirit of the competition.
This year, the CWC has expanded the entry process to include cakes. A children's event also is in the works. Contest details are still being determined, so check back to this site for more information.
All proceeds from the Old Tyme Bar-B-Q benefit Special Olympics.
