The Colleyville Outdoor Warning System consists of 8 sirens placed in a broad geographical cross-section of the city.
The System provides alert coverage in densely populated residential, business and public institution areas, so as to alert the greatest number of citizens. In fact, Colleyville’s Outdoor Warning System, together with neighboring cities' sirens, provides full coverage of the city. All 8 sirens were installed on city-owned or maintained properties, rather than private property, to minimize impacts on neighborhood aesthetics. The 8 sirens cost the city a total of $132, 769. This outdoor warning system is a part of the city’s commitment to a comprehensive and coordinated effort to mitigate the effects of a hazard, prepare for necessary measures that will preserve life and minimize damage and respond to hazard or disaster events by providing the necessary assistance and emergency support functions. In order for the Siren System to accomplish its goal, it is imperative that all citizens know what to do when the sirens sound. Remember: The emergency alert siren is for OUTDOOR NOTIFICATION.
