POSITION TITLE OPEN: Equipment Operator

DEPARTMENT: Public Works/Drainage APPLICATION DEADLINE: Until filled

SUMMARY OF POSITION: Maintains and operates various types of motorized equipment in repair of city infrastructure and facilities; undertakes a variety of manual labor activities pertaining to public works operations and services; and performs related duties as assigned.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Operates trucks and equipment to grade and clean ditches, install culverts, patch potholes, resurface streets, build forms and pour concrete, cut and remove brush, load and transport equipment, mow grass and weeds, collect and dispose of trash and debris. Perform operator maintenance to assigned equipment. Check oil, water, fuel, tires, hydraulic systems, and perform other inspections to ensure equipment is in proper working order.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or equivalent. One year of general maintenance or equipment operation experience, or successful completion of a 160 hour extension course on road, street, and highway maintenance. Must possess a valid Class B commercial Texas Driver’s License.

SALARY RANGE: $14.35 - $19.41 per hour
