Colleyville, Texas…The property tax rate for Colleyville will hold steady at
34.74 cents for the 11th consecutive year under the city’s proposed budget.
Colleyville’s tax rate is the lowest among major cities in Northeast Tarrant
County, including Southlake, Grapevine, Bedford, Hurst, Euless, Keller and
North Richland Hills.
The city has scheduled public meetings on the proposed budget Tuesday, Aug. 30, at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 6, at 7:30 p.m, and Tuesday, Sept. 20, at 7:30 p.m. All of the meetings will be held in council chambers at Colleyville City Hall. “This was a good budget year for us. We have a sound plan that will allow us to provide enhanced city services to our residents and businesses without an increase in property taxes. Many cities have not been as fortunate this year, so we’re looking forward to presenting this budget,” stated City Manager Bill Lindley. If approved by the council, the budget will increase $341,071 from 2005. The average property value for an existing home increased by only 2.84% from 2005 to 2006; thus, the average existing homeowner will pay only $32 more per year—the equivalent of nine cents per day. The proposed budget includes additional staff for the police, fire and public works departments, replacing one fire engine, and additional funding for the economic development department’s marketing efforts. Street maintenance and drainage projects are included in the budget, as well as funding for merit increases for city employees and continued health coverage for dependents. |
