How do I learn about job opportunities with the City of Colleyville? Details about current job postings can be found on the city’s website by clicking on Job Opportunities, contacting the Employment Hot Line at 817-503-1075, checking bulletin boards in front of City Hall, calling Human Resources at 817-503-1070 or by stopping by to look at the employment listing. When recruiting is required, openings may be listed in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram or special journals, publications, websites or other sources as needed. How do I apply for a position with the City of Colleyville? Applications are accepted only for current openings. Applications are available at the Human Resources Office or may be downloaded from the website. Some positions require a cover letter and resume; follow the guidelines listed. For positions requiring a resume, a separate application will also be required. How long does it take after I submit my application before I am called for an interview? The length of time depends on the length of time needed to advertise and post the vacancy, the number of applicants and the time required to review the applications by the department. How long are applications kept on file? Applications are retained for one year. A new application is required for each job opening you are interested in applying for. How do I contact Human Resources? What do I need to do for a typing test? If the positions you are applying for require a typing test you will be contacted to schedule an appointment. The test will take approximately 30 minutes. What if I have taken a typing test through a temp agency, will the city accept it? The city will only accept tests given by the city. If I am hired, how often would I get paid? City employees are paid biweekly, or every two weeks. What benefits does the city offer? The city has a full benefits program including vacation, sick leave, nine paid holidays, group health and dental, life and accidental death and dismemberment, long-term disability, retirement, optional deferred compensation, employee assistance program, optional short-term disability, cancer, and accident plans. The city pays 100% of the employee cost of medical insurance and contributes 75% to the cost of dependent medical insurance. The city’s participation in the Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS) is at the maximum 7% contribution level with a 2:1 match by the city and 5-year vesting. |
