Hop-a-Park Slated July 11

July is National Park and Recreation month and the Colleyville Parks and Recreation department is celebrating with a Hop-a-Park party on Saturday, July 11. Hop-a-Park features four activities in four parks…in four hours! Activities, including lunch, are free and open to the public. Hop-a-Park activities are suitable for all ages.

The event kicks off at 9:00 a.m. at McPherson Park with a dog costume parade. Pets love the city’s parks and this is their chance to strut their stuff in their Saturday morning best…or most creative. It’s fun on four legs, and both dog-friendly and dog-free spectators are welcome. McPherson Park is located at 240 West McDonwell School Road.

Kimzey Park is the second stop on the Hop-a-Park caravan. Colleyville’s parks are perfectly suited to bicycle and tricycle traffic, so the activity here is a bicycle/tricycle decorating contest and parade. Deck out that two- or three-wheeled ride, and then it’s once…or maybe twice, around the park in a colorful, better-than-any-horse-powered parade. Kimzey Park is located off Pool Road, at Melanie Drive and Atlanta Drive.

Blockbuster superheroes are the order of the day at Sparger Park, the third stop on the Hop-a-Park parade. Capes, spidey-nets, deflectors and decoders are all part of the action at Colleyville’s first superhero parade. Sparger Park is located off Glade Road, at 4301 Bedford Road.

Costumed dogs, fancy bikes and trikes, colorful superheroes, and plenty of spectators all converge on City Park for a hot dog lunch and the conclusion of this year’s Hop-a-Park event. The food and fun are free. City Park is located at 5205 Bransford Road.
