CodeRED credited with saving lives in Colleyville; CLICK HERE FOR FREE REGISTRATION
CodeRED is an ultra high-speed telephone communication service for emergency notifications; it has the capacity to dial 50,000 phone numbers per hour. For instance, during the storms of Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009, the city launched the CodeRED alert at 8:12 p.m.; all calls were completed by 8:38 p.m.
The CodeRED system can deliver a pre-recorded message when the phone is answered—whether by a person or by an answering machine or voicemail. Colleyville residents and businesses can also set up a CodeRED for cell phones and mobile devices. The system will attempt to connect to any number three times. However, the system does require a voice response before playback of the recorded CodeRED message. Simply saying “hello” is enough to start the playback, as is a recorded voicemail message on an answering machine or cell phone.
CodeRED is offered as a service to the Colleyville community. There is no charge and registration is fast and convenient. To register for CodeRed notifications, please click here.
