Deadline approaching for city’s rain and freeze sensor rebate Colleyville, Texas…All residents with automatic irrigation systems must have them fitted with rain and freeze sensors by August 31, according to a city ordinance adopted in 2006. To encourage compliance, the city is offering a one-time $20 rebate on water bills for residents and business owners. To be eligible for the rebate, Colleyville customers must: 1. Provide a readable copy of the receipt for the purchase of rain/freeze sensor. 2. Complete and return a rebate form to the Colleyville Water Utility Department. Rebate forms can be found on the city Web site or at City Hall and should be mailed separately from water utility payments or it may delay receipt of the rebate credit. 3. Only one rebate per household. All rebate forms must be received in the Utility Billing Department no later than August 31. Rebate forms received after will be ineligible for the rebate. City personnel will verify installation of the sensors. The rebate will be issued on a future water bill within 60 days. Failure to comply with the rain/freeze sensor requirements may result in the termination of water service until the required sensors are installed. Rain and freeze sensors conserve water, save consumers money and reduce ice on sidewalks and roadways. The average cost for the sensors is between $40 and $125, plus installation. The city does not install the sensors. Wireless and hard-wired sensors can be purchased at Lowes, Home Depot or any irrigation supply company. Some landscape maintenance companies can also install the sensors. -end- |
