Color Me “Green” in Colleyville Colleyville, Texas…Operation: LiveGreen, the city’s first “green” festival promises to have area kids coloring, painting, and sculpting “green.” The new festival, slated Saturday, April 26, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at McPherson Park, will culminate the six-week recycled art contest for children in grades 2-5. Entry forms must be submitted to the city by April 15. Competitors should create a three dimensional piece of art that uses items people should reduce the use of (example: Styrofoam), recycle, or reuse (example: empty tissue box). Maximum weight of any submission is 10 pounds; and, maximum dimensions are 2’x2’x2’. Students will compete in their grade level. Judging will be at 12:45 p.m. on April 26. First-place winners in each grade level will be awarded a $50 savings bond from Peoples Bank. The bank also will provide prizes to second- and third-place winners in each grade. Art projects must be delivered to McPherson Park, 240 McDonwell School Road in Colleyville on April 26, by 11:00 a.m. Participants are responsible for artwork at the conclusion of the event. In addition to the art competition, Operation: LiveGreen will feature hands-on “mad science” demonstrations relating to living “green” and the environment, plus inflatables, pony rides, and a petting zoo. Parents can check out “green” vendors, including TXU Energy, with free energy-efficient light bulb giveaways; Home Depot, “green” and environmental educators, and a host of other vendors.
