Colleyville PARD celebrates at the drive-in

Colleyville, Texas… Colleyville’s Parks and Recreation Department (PARD) celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. That means a busy summer calendar of classes, camps, workshops, and special events. The department kicks off the season with a trip back in time to the 1950s-era, drive-in movie on Friday, June 13, at dusk. Colleyville City Park on
Bransford Road is the location.

Paying homage to the Friday the 13th date, the feature presentation will be "Little Monsters." Considered a modern family classic, "Little Monsters" embarks on an imaginative tale about the monster every child knows is lurking beneath their bed. The movie is rated PG.

This is a traditional drive-in, so load up the SUVs, sedans, and vans. Sound will be broadcast through the vehicles FM receiver. Lawn chairs and blankets also are welcome. Classic, vintage, and show cars are encouraged and the "coolest" car will be awarded a prize.

And dust off those poodle skirts and comb back that ducktail to win the "Best Dressed, circa 1958" award. Hula-hoop contests also are on the agenda, with prizes in several categories.
The event is free and open to the public. For more information, call the Colleyville Parks and Recreation Department at 817.503.1180.
