The Fort Worth Transit Authority (The T) has announced plans to expand commuter rail service from Fort Worth to Grapevine and DFW International Airport. The initial proposal included a potential rail station in Colleyville, possibly at the intersection of John McCain Road and State Highway 26.
The Colleyville City Council established a Commuter Rail Citizen Committee to study the impact of the proposed commuter rail line, including whether it is in the best interest of Colleyville to have a station within Colleyville’s city limits. A report from the study was presented to the City Council in December 2008. No further action has been taken by the City Council.

Clarification of Resolution R-09-3065 |
|
The Colleyville City Council passed resolution (R-09-3065) at the February 3, 2009 City Council meeting in support of the Texas Local Option Tax Act (TLOTA) proposed by State Representative Vicki Truitt and State Senator John Corona, which would allow for countywide citizen votes to determine the raising and use of funds for specific local Tarrant County transportation projects. The Colleyville City Council's support for the legislation, along with that of 46 other Metroplex cities, is to give Tarrant County voters local control over potential additional revenues that would be used 100 percent in Tarrant County. Support for TLOTA was not to declare support for the rail station or to tax Colleyville residents to build a rail station. If the TLOTA legislation passes, Colleyville could request consideration for funding for any number of needed road and transportation projects including sound mitigation and enhanced landscaping for the Cottonbelt rail corridor.

Responses to Questions from Public Meetings on Commuter Rail |
|
While the Commuter Rail Committee’s scope was limited to studying the impact of the proposed commuter rail and the possibility of a rail stop in Colleyville, many of the public’s questions pertained to the Fort Worth T’s plans. Understanding the Colleyville community’s concerns, the committee worked with The T to provide the most-up-to-date answers available at the time. Responses were grouped by category according to the questions posed by those at the public meetings.
