Library Children's Programs
Summer Reading Program 2012
Enjoy stories, crafts, and fun activities at the library during library story time! Registration is open to all library card holders. Space is limited, so register early! Preference will be given to Colleyville residents; but non-residents are welcome to apply. Story times available for ages 18 mos through grade 3. Chess Club open to ages 8 - 15.
Registration will open Monday, June 4 at 10 a.m. and can be done either in person or online. Go to www.colleyvillelibrary.com. Under SEARCH THE LIBRARY, click on the Calendar link. Find the class that you would like to register for (any week), then click on the Register button. Caregivers must fill out one registration form per child.
**PLEASE NOTE**: Submission of a story time registration form DOES NOT guarantee the child a spot in the class. Registration requests will be processed as quickly as possible in the order they are received. A staff member will call all registrants to confirm whether or not there is a spot available in the class. The Colleyville Public Library makes an effort to include as many children in story time that our safety, staffing, and budget guidelines allow.

The following weekly children’s programs are currently offered at the library beginning June 11, 2012:
- Toddler Tales (18-36 months) - This program lasts approximately 30 minutes and includes a story, finger plays, rhymes, music, activities, and play time. PREREGISTRATION IS REQUIRED.
- Especially for 3s (age 3 only) - This program lasts approximately 45 minutes and includes stories, finger plays, rhymes, active songs, fun activities, and a simple craft. PREREGISTRATION IS REQUIRED.
- Preschool Story Time (ages 4 & 5) - This program lasts one hour and includes stories, songs, finger plays, rhymes, fun activities, a short video, and special crafts. PREREGISTRATION IS REQUIRED.
- Snacks and Stories (K – 3rd grade) – This one-hour story time for school-aged children features snacks, stories, a short video, and craft activities. PREREGISTRATION IS REQUIRED.
- Friday Bounce Time (ages 3 & under only) - This one-hour unstructured play time features a play area and music for your little one. Caregiver participation is required. NO PREREGISTRATION.
CHESS CLUB
An after-school Chess Club activity is held one day per week in the fall and spring for participants between the ages of 8-15. Sessions last for one hour and introduce participants to the ancient game of Chess. Participants learn basic rules of movement, strategy and tactics. There is also a session of Chess Club that runs concurrently with the Summer Reading Program.SUMMER READING PROGRAM
Each year the Library offers a Summer Reading Program for residents of Colleyville. Citizens of all ages can earn prizes for the books they read and/or listen to (e-books and audio books count too!) FREE daily activities are available, including weekly story times for children, Chess Club, LEGO Mania, Tuesday Activity Days, visiting performers every Thursday, and Friday Movie Days. Summer Reading Program 2012 will run June 11 - July 28, 2012. REGISTRATION REQUIRED for all story times and Chess Club; opens Monday, June 4 at 10 a.m. Summer Reading Program will commence with the “Reading Is So Delicious” Kick-Off Party on Saturday, June 9 from 8:30 - 10:30 a.m. and will end with a special Summer Reading Program Grand Finale outdoor event on Friday, August 3, 2012.
LEGO MANIA
Calling LEGO fans of all ages! Join us every other week for free play as we get wildly creative with fun LEGO projects! Duplos available for our youngest LEGO architects. NO pre-registration required. LEGO Mania is offered weekly on Wednesday mornings during Summer Reading Program 2012!
