City taking applications for Mayor for a Day |

For the fourth consecutive year, this fall the city of Colleyville is sponsoring the “Mayor for a Day” contest. The essay contest is open to Colleyville residents in grades 2-7. All contestants must submit a one- to two-page essay addressing what they would do, as mayor, to improve and enhance the lives of Colleyville citizens. Students must live in Colleyville to be selected. |

Street Capital Improvement Program |

Road quality has an impact on every Colleyville resident, business, and visitor—affecting property values; business, school, and residential accessibility; and the quality of life of our citizens. The Street Capital Improvement Program (CIP) encompasses projects that maintain or improve Colleyville’s roadway infrastructure. With a population that has increased by more than 50 percent since the early 1990s, it is imperative that the city maintain and build its street infrastructure to meet the demands of a growing residential and commercial population. Under council directive, a citizen CIP committee was formed in 2006 to provide community input into the assessment and selection of street projects. The information provided herein reflects the committee’s input on recommended projects, as well as information on current and ongoing projects. This information is provided to inform and educate Colleyville citizens and other interested parties on the CIP process. |

 UPDATE 9/18/08
According to the Fort Worth Transportation Authority (the T), the Environmental Impact Study on the commuter rail project is complete and is currently being reviewed by the Federal Transit Administration. The T anticipates the release of the study to the public later this fall.
The Committee is currently working on a Public Awareness Campaign encompassing regional mobility issues, facts regarding proposed commuter train operations through Colleyville, pros and cons of commuter rail transportation, as well as mitigation efforts needed for any negative aspects of a station stop in Colleyville.
The public meetings, conducted earlier this summer by the Commuter Rail Citizen Committee, were designed to gather public input and questions related to the Southwest-to-Northeast commuter rail service announced by the Fort Worth T earlier this year. Responses to the many questions asked by more than 200 Colleyville citizens during the four public meetings are now available online. |
